Albania

Albania, officially known as the Republic of Albania, is a country in Southeast Europe on the Balkan Peninsula. It is bordered by Montenegro to the northwest, Kosovo to the northeast, North Macedonia to the east, and Greece to the south. To the west, it has a coastline along the Adriatic Sea, and to the southwest, it borders the Ionian Sea. The capital and largest city is Tirana.

Albania has a rich and diverse history that dates back to ancient times. The region was inhabited by the Illyrians and later became part of the Roman and Byzantine Empires. During the Middle Ages, Albania was ruled by various regional powers before falling under Ottoman rule for several centuries. Albania declared its independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1912.

Albanian cuisine features Mediterranean flavors, with dishes such as byrek (a savory pastry) and tavë kosi (baked lamb with yogurt).
