Chile, officially known as the Republic of Chile, is a long, narrow country stretching along the western edge of South America, bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the west, Argentina to the east, Bolivia to the northeast, and Peru to the north. It is known for its extraordinary geographical diversity, encompassing the driest desert in the world, the Atacama Desert, the Andes mountains, fertile valleys, expansive forests, and a coastline that stretches over 4,300 kilometers (2,670 miles).

The capital and largest city of Chile is Santiago, a bustling metropolis nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains. Other major cities include Valparaíso, known for its colorful houses and vibrant arts scene, and Concepción, an important cultural and industrial center.
